A&N Blueberry was founded by Alton and Norma Grimes (Eli’s grandparents) in 1981. They started off with just a few acres of bushes behind their home, which is just walking distance from where the farm is now. They had a vision that once people started coming out to pick they would return year after year. This vision was based on treating people well and providing a nice place to come and pick berries, ideas that we still embrace to this day.
In 1991 they expanded there operation to include an 11 acre piece of property that Mr. Grimes was raised on which is where the farm is located today. At that time they planted 6 additional acres of blueberries, which is what we primarily harvest from today.
Mr. Grimes never believed in the use of harsh chemicals or sprays and we still do not practice this type of farming today. Our berries are all natural and the only thing that keeps them from being completely organic is the use of synthetic fertilizers.
In 2008 Mr. and Mrs. Grimes decided to retire from the farming scene and sold the farm to there grandson Eli Miller and his wife Sarah. When Eli and Sarah took over they expanded the operation to include a variety of produce which includes: watermelons, cantaloupe, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, and okra. They also take orders for picked berries. The best way to learn about our farm is to come out and experience it for yourself. We are very family oriented and encourage people to bring their families and come out for the total blueberry pickin’ experience!
