Auglaize Farms is located on State Road A in southeastern Camden County. It is a family-owned farm of 60+ years with three generations presently living on the farm. Over the years the farm has included a dairy, free-range turkeys, a feeder pig operation, sheep and a cow/calf herd. The cow/calf herd remains, however we have added a small fruit (blueberries) and vegetable operation. In addition, our daughter, Elaine Mallahan, operates a custom cake/pastry business – LucyBelle Cakes – from a commercial kitchen located on the farm.
Our blueberry patch was planted in 2005 and we had our first harvest in 2008. This year our daughter convinced us we needed a way to communicate quickly with our customer base to update them about harvest times, conditions in the patch, availability of vegetables, etc. Please check the blog to learn what’s going on in the berry patch and to find out when the blueberry season is over. Then check weekly through the summer to find out what vegetables we are harvesting and when we will have the vegetable stand open. We’ve planted tomatoes, potatoes (Yukon Gold, Irish Cobbler, and Kennebec), Candy onions, greens beans, bell peppers (green, red, and yellow), corn, okra, sweet potatoes, squash (summer and winter), cucumbers, and pumpkins. Our vegetable stand will be at the LucyBelle Cakes building at the farm. Assorted pastries will be available as well.
We look forward to visiting with you either at the blueberry patch or at the vegetable stand.
